  20.         Transmit File      (Alt-T)

  22.             The Transmit File function is used to send an ASCII file to
  23.             the TNC. To send a file, click on the Files Menu item or
  24.             press the "F" key when the Menu system is activated. You may
  25.             now press either a "T" or click the mouse on the Transmit
  26.             File selection.
  27.  
  28.             At this point the file selector will appear on the screen.
  29.             To select a file using the mouse double click on the file to
  30.             send, no other action is required.
  31.  
  32.             To use the cursor keys to pick a file, move the cursor until
  33.             the required file is highlighted. Using the TAB key move to
  34.             the OK box. This may also be chosen by pressing the 'O' key.
  35.             This file will be sent to the TNC at this time.
  36.  
  37.             Any text that is entered while the file is being transferred
  38.             will be sent after the file has been closed.

  40.         Receive File       (Alt-R)
  41.  
  42.             To open a file for logging the incoming data, click or
  43.             select the Receive File option. This file name will be
  44.             defaulted to the current date and time appended with an 'R'
  45.             that indicates it is a received file. You may rename this
  46.             file, if you wish. To do so just 'tab' to the file entry
  47.             box or press the 'F' key and enter the filename.  Press the 
  48.             'O' key to complete the selection of the receive file.

  51.                 Appending an Existing File
  52.  
  53.                      If you wish to append (add to) an existing file,
  54.                      use the cursor keys or mouse to select the file to
  55.                      be appended. The received data will be 'tacked' on
  56.                      to the end of the existing file.

  59.                      see Transmit File or Using View / Help Screens
  60.                      section of this help Text.

  62.                 AEA PK-232  Host  Mode (packet only)
  63.  
  64.                      When receiving a file using the AEA PK-232 in Host
  65.                      mode the file will be opened against the current
  66.                      active STREAM or CHANNEL. The program will allow
  67.                      one file per STREAM or CHANNEL. If you have
  68.                      problems with your computer locking up try setting
  69.                      the FILES and BUFFERS values in CONFIG.SYS to a
  70.                      higher value.

  72.         Print  Toggle
  73.  
  74.             This command allows the user to log all received data to the
  75.             printer. To activate click on the selection. A message will
  76.             appear on the middle status bar that the printer is
  77.             activated, "Prt On". If an error occurs the message "Prt
  78.             ERR" will appear.
  79.  
  80.             To toggle the printer off, click on this selection again.
  81.             This will disable the printer. The message "Prt Off" should
  82.             appear in the status box in the middle of the screen.

  84.         Print File
  85.  
  86.             The "Print File" command is used to print a file from disk.
  87.             The File Selector (refer to section on File Selector) will
  88.             be displayed on the screen. The user may select the desired
  89.             file and press the 'O' (Ok) key or double click on the entry
  90.             with a mouse. To cancel the print file function press either
  91.             the 'ESC ' key or click the mouse off of the File selector.
  92.  
  93.              Note All printing is done as a background operation.
  94.                   As such normal operation may be continued while
  95.                   printing a file.
  96.  
  97.             No actions are required after the file is printed.

  100.         Delete File
  101.  
  102.             This allows deleting a file from the disk. To use select the
  103.             file to be deleted and press the OK button (see section of
  104.             File Selector for more information). A confirmation box will
  105.             appear select appropriate action.

  107.         View File          (Alt-V)
  108.  
  109.             This allows the user to view a text file with full window
  110.             scrolling capability. For more information see Using
  111.             Help/View.
  112.  
  113.             The TNC information will still be recorded in the background
  114.             and logged to Disk or Printer if these options are
  115.             activated.
  116.  
  117.             This is designed to view small files.  Any file that is
  118.             larger than 32K should use some external text editor.
  119.  
  120.         View Color File
  121.  
  122.             This menu option allows the user to view an ANSI color
  123.             file. The UPLOAD directory is the default.  After
  124.             viewing the picture press any key to exit.

  126.         Save  Parameters   (Alt-S)
  127.  
  128.             This function saves all current setup parameters to the
  129.             'XPCOM.TUI' file. To perform this operation just click on
  130.             the Save Para or hot key the selection. WARNING !! DO NOT
  131.             DELETE THIS FILE !!
  132.  
  133.         DOS  Shell     (Ctrl-S)
  134.  
  135.             The DOS shell commands allows the user to run other programs
  136.             from the DOS prompt, while leaving XPCOM resident in memory.
  137.             From version 1.4 and above XPCOM completely shells itself
  138.             out of memory.  This makes it possible to run virtually any
  139.             program from the DOS SHELL in XPCOM.  Note it is important
  140.             not to start any other program that might effect the
  141.             operation of the TNC,  example other communications programs
  142.             etc.

  144.             To return to XPCOM type "EXIT " at the DOS Prompt. The
  145.             program will return to the previous state. Any data that has
  146.             been decoded by the TNC will appear on the screen.

  148.         Editor          (Alt-E)
  149.  
  150.             This command invokes the User defined text editor (see Setup
  151.             Menu). The user will be prompted with a file selector. Refer
  152.             to section on File Selector . Pick the desired file to be
  153.             edited or create a new file by using the 'F' command and
  154.             entering the new file name.

  157.             After exiting the text editor, XPCOM will resume normal
  158.             operations.

  162.         Run Batch     (Ctrl-O)
  163.  
  164.             Invoking the Run Batch option allows the user to run "BATCH"
  165.             files from inside of XPCOM. When invoked, the user will be
  166.             presented with a "File Selector" that will be default to the
  167.             current Program Directory and "*.BAT". XPCOM is removed from
  168.             memory when running a batch, therefore, it should be
  169.             possible to run any program from inside of XPCOM.

  171.             Note ->     Do not run other communications programs or
  172.             install any Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs from
  173.             the Batch Mode.

  176.         Quit          (Alt-X)
  177.  
  178.             This will end the program, the program may also be
  179.             terminated by pressing 'Alt-X'. You will be prompted for two
  180.             actions. The first is a confirmation that you really want to
  181.             quit the program. If you select 'Yes' you will also be
  182.             prompted and given a chance to save the current operating
  183.             parameters. If you have made any changes that you want to
  184.             keep ( color, scroll back etc.) save them at this time,
  185.             otherwise they will be lost.
